You can delete your account yourself from the app, without asking us and without writing to us. If you have already uninstalled the app, the other route is below.

Open the app and go to Profile → Delete my account. The app asks you to confirm and deletes the account right away, automatically.
Two things can hold it up. The first is a rental in progress — pending, accepted, paid or active: cancel it or complete it first. The second is a payment Avero still owes you: the app will not let you delete until that payment has gone out. It goes out on its own, 3 business days after the rental closes; if the case needs review, write to support and we will sort it out. Try again once it has gone out. The app tells you in both cases.
If you deleted the app from your phone and do not want to reinstall it, write to privacy@averomobility.com.
Write from the same email address you registered with. That is how we confirm the account is yours: without it we cannot act on the request, because anyone could ask us to delete someone else's account.
Put Delete my account in the subject line. You do not need to give a reason.
Timeframe: we resolve these requests within a maximum of ten business days from receiving the email. If your account has an open rental, we write to you first to resolve it, and the clock starts once it is resolved.
This route exists for specific cases and is slower than the app. If you can still sign in to the app, use the app.
It depends on whether you took part in a rental, and the reason is the other party's history.
· If you never took part in a rental, either as host or as renter, and there are no reports involved: your account is deleted completely, along with your profile and any cars you listed.
· If you did take part in a rental: we cannot delete your profile row without breaking the other person's history — their contract, their check-in and check-out photos and their reviews would stop making sense. In that case we anonymise your account: we remove your personal data (name, phone, photo, date of birth) and your identity documents, licence and selfies, and we close access so nobody can sign in with it again. From then on your profile shows as «Deleted user». Your cars are unlisted: they stop appearing in the app and nobody can request them again.
Your identity documents and your profile photo are deleted in both cases.
Your car photos are different. They are deleted only when the account is deleted completely, that is, when you never took part in a rental. If we anonymise, the car still exists inside the other person's history, and its photos stay for the same reason as their contract and their check-in and check-out photos: deleting them would leave the record of a rental that is not only yours incomplete. The car is unlisted and nobody can rent it, but its photos remain stored.
Payment records and tax documents are kept for as long as the law requires, even after the account has been deleted or anonymised. We do not use them to identify you or to contact you.
The detail of what data we keep, for how long and on what legal basis is in the Privacy notice. If you have questions before deleting, write to privacy@averomobility.com.
Your email address is deleted or replaced. When the account is deleted, your email is deleted with it or, if you took part in rentals or reports, replaced with a random address that leads nowhere. If one of your rentals is under legal hold, we keep it for as long as the hold lasts. Copies may remain for a limited time in our backups, in any messages you sent to our support, in our email provider's logs, and in Stripe's records, which Stripe keeps as an independent controller; we do not use them to contact you.
There is one exception, and it is a legal obligation. If one of your rentals is under legal hold —because of an accident, a claim, a payment dispute, or a formal request, for example— we keep everything that belongs to THAT rental for as long as the hold lasts: its files, the identity documents of both parties used in it, the car's documents, and your email address. Everything else is deleted as usual.
